Thanks, Al, for a very thorough look at the question.

My two kids are part of this Generation Y. My son is very much into shoot-'em-up wargames. He earned his BA in finance because he was tired of being poor. Then the stock market turned sour and he saw through the ploy. I am happy to report that he is about to get a start in a brand new career helping others because it has real value.

My daughter is just plain lost. She dropped out in her senior year of high school and became a mother at 19. She is part of the marginalized community living on a hope and a prayer without a job as a single mother. She, too, is really looking for meaning, especially for love and for being valued.

These two children were born into a very dysfunctional family despite my best efforts. My mental health problems prevented them from having the life they deserved. I fell away from the church for a while during these years because I was unable to handle the two of them together in church and my husband would have nothing to do with church -- and no one in church stepped forward to help me manage them. Please pray for both of them; they need it! They need God to fill the emptiness in their beings.
